About GCDA – Welcome to Our Colorful World!

Greater Cincinnati Decorative Artists (GCDA) welcomes you to our world of creativity!

Simply put, we like to paint!  Within our membership you’ll find just about all the art mediums represented:  acrylics, oils, watercolors, colored pencil and pen and ink.  Our members include beginners through advanced, with some who teach, some who sell their artwork and some who do both.

We’re always seeking to expand our artistic skills and learn new techniques, and so we schedule classes and workshops throughout the year.  In April, we host a three-day painting retreat in West Harrison, Indiana.  From whimsical to fine-art, beginner to advanced, there’s room for everyone who wants to create art and have fun doing it.

Regular meetings are held on the second Sunday of each month with some exceptions:  In May it is the first Sunday because of Mother’s Day; There are no meetings in April, July, and December.  For the time being while Springfield Township Senior and Community Art Center is being renovated, meetings will be held in the Krumpe Center located at 9375 Winton Rd., Springfield Township, Cincinnati, OH

GCDA is a non-profit organization formed in September 1980 as an affiliated chapter of the Society of Decorative Painters (SDP) for the purpose of promoting interest in decorative painting and providing programs to increase learning and skills in a relaxed and fun environment.   Membership includes the tri-state areas of Ohio, Kentucky, Indiana and beyond.

If you enjoy creating art – regardless of your skill level – come join the fun!

    1. Absolutely come to our November meeting! We look forward to meeting you! Do you
have any questions before you come?

      1. Thank you. Will the group be painting? If so what supplies should I bring?

        1. GCDA meets today at 12:00 and the class begins at 1:00 afterward. You are welcome to come to our meeting. We have refreshments. I am teaching an easy colored pencil project using Prismacolor pencils in colors of your choice. It’s a Crazy Quilt Tic Tac Toe Game Board & Game Pieces. You would need to bring colored pencils,
pencil sharpener, drafting brush or Swiffer duster brush, kneaded eraser and Scotch tape, preferably Magic tape. The cost is $15.00 cash or check payable to GCDA. I supply the rest. Please check your email for a flyer that shows the project. Hope you can make it.

          1. So sorry I’m missing the meeting and class. The website says meetings are on the second Sunday of the month so I expected it to be tomorrow, not today on Saturday. When is the next meeting?

            1. I goofed. The meeting and class are tomorrow. I hope that makes a difference! Hope to see you there. Let me know. I’ll watch for you.

  3. I am looking for acrylics teacher in eastern Cincinnati area

    1. Hi Georgia! I’m sending an email to members of our chapter, GCDA, to see if anyone is near you or knows of a teacher near you.

  4. How much does it cost?

    1. I will be able to answer your question after November 1st when all the information will be provided.
Our retreat preview party is that date, and the catalogs with registration forms will be available
to me at that time. Thanks for your interest in our retreat!
